Explosive Ordnance Disposal and Search personnel face high-pressure situations every day. This continued exposure to intense stress can have lasting psychological and physical effects, erode well-being, and affect family. Felix Fund is here to help this unique group of men and women.
The consistent pressure of these roles can lead to devastating consequences across all aspects of their lives. This can manifest both physically and mentally.
If you have conducted or assisted with Explosive Ordnance Disposal and Search duties and are a service person or veteran, then you may be eligible for help from the Felix Fund and associated service charities. You do not need to have been injured to qualify.
Who we support:
- British Army – those who have conducted or assisted with EOD and Search duties
- Royal Navy Clearance Divers
- RAF Bomb Disposal Personnel
- SO15 (Metropolitan Police Counter Terrorism Command) EOD Unit
- Families And Dependants of the above Personnel
How we can help:
- Providing grants to individuals in times of need
- The development and delivery of a preventative stress training program based on mindfulness, for details email [email protected]
- Provision of grants to units for welfare needs
- With the assistance of SSAFA occupational therapy, providing support with specialist equipment to those injured in service, or dependents with life-changing disabilities, for the purpose of improving the quality of day-to-day life.
- Commemorating and sustaining the memories of those within the EOD and search community who have lost their lives in the course of executing EOD and search duties.
- Alternative requests for funding may be considered on an exceptional case-by-case basis.
Important Notes
- Felix Fund is a volunteer trustee charity. Where statutory provision can be provided, you should apply for assistance through defence medical channels or the NHS.
- If your request is for specialist equipment, then you should reach out to SSAFA for an Occupational Therapy assessment in the first instance. This will provide you access to grants from numerous service charities, including the Felix Fund.
- Applicants should be aware that for all less the most exceptional cases, all successful requests for flight costs will be capped at 1/3rd the flight cost or £600 whichever is lower.
- Grants for adventurous training are routinely capped at £30 per head with an upper limit of £500 per exercise.

Timelines
Grant applications will be considered by the trustees in the last week of each month, so should be received by the Thursday in preceding week. Decisions will be announced by the 7th (or closest working day) of the following month.
